Micanite

Micanite is a material derived from flakes of mica bonded with an organic binder. Mica have good resistance to high temperatures and chemicals. Mica combines low thermal conductivity with high dielectric strength and good resistance to high voltages.

  • Rigit micanite plate is an electrical insulating material made from phlogopite plates impregnated with silicone resin. Rigid mica sheets are an ideal alternative to asbestos plates from the past. Micanite has good resistance to high temperatures and chemicals, low thermal conductivity, high dielectric strength, good resistance to high voltages.
  • Flexible mica sheet is an electrical insulating material made of mica paper impregnated with a silicone bonding compound. Micanite plates are characterised by exceptional heat resistance and remain flexible even at high temperature. Improved flexibility can be obtained by heating the flexible mica sheets up for 1 minute at 150 °C. As a result, the improved flexibility produces optimum deformability.
  • Combi mica paper is a material consisting of 2 layers – mica foil and ceramic paper. The micanite (muscovite) paper has glass reinforcement, giving it greater tensile strength during operation and installation. Mica foil has excellent electrical insulating qualities, while ceramic paper contributes with very low thermal conductivity. The softness of combi-mica ensures easier installation of the material, compared to other alternatives.
