Description
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the most common member of the vinyl group of plastics. PVC rod has high strength-to-weight ratio and are a good electrical and thermal insulator. Polyvinyl chloride rods are a self-extinguishing material and are categorised with extremely low water absorption. PVC rod is a chemical, acid and abrasion resistant material. Polyvinyl chloride is a strong and durable material, which ages slowly. PVC rod offers excellent corrosion resistance and resistance to outdoor conditions. Rigid PVC has high mechanical strength and toughness, very hard surface, excellent impact strength. PVC rods are easy to process. The disadvantage of PVC rod is that the material melts at a lower temperature than other plastics compared to polyamide (PA), Teflon (PTFE) and polyethylene (HDPE).
