Description
Polyester foil (Mylar) is a flexible and transparent electrical insulating material. PET foil combines many positive properties with a favorable price, which is why they are used in a wide range of industries. Also known as BoPET, it has good thermal insulation properties that correspond to class B (130° C). PET foil has a unique combination of mechanical strength, thermal and chemical resistance and low adhesion to many polymeric materials. Polyester film is very tear resistant and resilient.
Advantages of BoPET:
- Low fraction of extractables
- Extremely strong
- Great insulator
- Seals well and keeps its form
- Reflective
- Gas and odor barrier
- High dielectric constant
- High dielectric strength
- Dimensional stability
- High temperature resistance
- Up to thermal class B (depending on grade)
- High tensile strength
- Good elongation to break
- Very good chemical and electrical stability
Areas of application
- Electrical insulation products
- Electric motors
- Generators
- Transformers
- Transformer insulation films
- Membrane touch switches (computer and calculator keyboards)
- Flexible printed circuit films
- Optically clear to opaque light transmission
- Hot stamping foil
- Photo-resist films
- Labels
- Others
