Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), also known as clear acrylic rod or Plexiglass, is a structural, completely transparent material. The light weight of PMMA rods allows them to be installed in places requiring light construction. In addition, due to the lightness of Plexiglass rods compared to glass, it is possible to use thicker elements without adding extra weight. The proven resistance of plexiglass to atmospheric influences guarantees their long life. Clear acrylic rods find similar applications to those of glass but are used in areas where their processing advantages and light transmission are preferred. PMMA’s ease of processing is a major plus, and the fact that it lends itself to bending means that much more complex shapes can be achieved without much effort. Clear acrylic rods are chemically resistant and suitable for the food industry.
