Description
Micanite is a material derived from flakes of mica bonded with an organic binder. Mica plates have good resistance to high temperatures and chemicals. The mica sheet combines low thermal conductivity with high dielectric strength and good resistance to high voltages.
Flexible mica sheet is an electrical insulating material made of mica paper impregnated with a silicone bonding compound. Micanite plates are characterised by exceptional heat resistance and remain flexible even at high temperature. Improved flexibility can be obtained by heating the flexible mica sheets up for 1 minute at 150 °C. As a result, the improved flexibility produces optimum deformability, which makes flexible mica sheet a more suitable option in certain cases, compared to rigid mica sheet.
